UPDATE: Some Challenger XL cars are now coming with 2 550 motors in the front and 2 larger 775 motors in the rear. Check before buying! This kit will not work for them. We are working on a solution for this.
This kit replaces all 4 motors on your car with our Performance 550 motors. The fastest 550 motors made for ride-ons! The kit also replaces your speed control unit with one capable of handling the power draw created by stronger motors. Also included is a new breaker for the higher power level. All really easy to install!
Easy Installation Instructions:
- Remove the hood. This takes a lot of pulling and tugging but it does come off!
- Note where each plug is on the stock speed control. Unplug them all, swap the speed control out for the new one, and plug everything back in.
- Locate the breaker next to the battery (under the seat). Pull it out and replace with the new one.
- Remove all 4 wheels and all 4 motor/gearboxes. Repeat steps 5-10 for each gearbox.
- Remove the stock motor (2 screws)
- Put a new pinion gear on a new motor so that the teeth line up the same distance from the motor as the stock motor was. Use threadlock on the set screw to secure the pinion gear to the motor.
- Use threadlock on the stock motor screws and install the new motor.
- Slide the motor/gearbox onto the axle.
- Cut the connector off of the wire leading to the motor. Strip back 1/4" of insulation and insert into a grey/orange wire connector.
- Insert the red and black wires provided into the other end of the connector and then attach them to the motor.
- Turn on the car, put it in Forward, and hit the gas. Check the directon of rotation of each gearbox. If any spin backwards just swap the 2 wires in the grey/orange connector.
- Install wheels, Install Hood.
- suspend all 4 wheels off of the ground. Put a brick on the gas pedal and let it run for 15 minutes to break the motors in.
- Go Fast!
*If your vehicle has a remote control you will need to pair it with this speed control by following your car manufacturer's instruction. We can not guarantee the pairing will work on all cars.
