Common questions
Do I still need the Lithium Module?
Not with the lithium version, which has the module built in. On the SLA version, use the module if you run a tool pack.
Can I use a 24v lithium battery?
No. Lithium is 18-20v only. For 24v use SLA batteries.
Will it run my 12v car?
No. It's for 18v or 24v.
Why does the brake come on by itself?
It applies 3-5 seconds after the gas pedal is released, so the car can't run away. Pressing the gas releases it.
How big is it?
About 4.5" x 4.5" x 2". The ESC is not waterproof, so mount it with room to breathe, out of the rain.
Lithium or SLA?
Lithium batteries usually have a much lower amperage rating than an SLA battery. Stock Power Wheels batteries are 9.5amps. The lower your amperage the less run time you'll get. Plus increasing voltage reduces run time. We still prefer SLA batteries for kids to get the most fun out of ride-ons for this reason. Running 2 lithium batteries in parallel may overpower the module from the increased discharge rating and is not warrantied. Do not use batteries with variable voltage.
Will it work in any car?
Any brand of ride-on running 18-24v batteries and two 550 or 775 motors, except the Bravo Monster Jam Grave Digger or any vehicle/driver total over 160lbs.

This was exactly what I needed once I decided the grandson needed more power. Literally plug and play once its decided where things will be installed in the vehicle. Now if you could design a better heater system for an aircooled vw Ill be needing that soon!
Good quality easy install replaced all wiring and original controller and got shutoffs and a break pedal.
This product is good, but it feels like the manufacturer held back in a few key areas.
What I Liked
Easy install. Pick a spot, screw it down, plug in the wires, and you're done.
Hall effect pedals. They work great, and I love that my son is learning to operate a throttle rather than a simple on/off switch. It's good practice for when he graduates to gas-powered toys.
Brake reduction module included. It's already installed, so there's no more whiplash when he lifts his foot off the gas.
Where It Falls Short (and What I Did About It)
No power switch. At this price, "just remember to unplug it" isn't acceptable, especially for setups running SLA batteries. I went a bit overboard and added a marine-grade battery cutoff switch.
Pedals don't fit standard Power Wheels cutouts. I don't see an easy fix for this, but it's worth knowing before you buy.
No options for pedal wire routing. I'd like to choose whether the wires exit the back, bottom, side, or top. To hide the wiring and run it under the car, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the pedal case, removed the hot glue on the connector at the pedal, and fed the cables out through the bottom.
Forward and reverse only. With a younger child, I missed having low and high speed settings. As a workaround, I mounted a potentiometer on the back of the car to limit top speed. I'd recommend that the kit include either a high/low gear option or a potentiometer.
Not water resistant. This is a broader frustration I have with small electronics makers whose products are meant to be used outdoors. A sealed case, or even a coat of silicone conformal coating on the board, costs pennies and would make a real difference.
Bottom line: A good foundation with a few oversights. With some modifications, it's a great upgrade.
Easy install on my kids Mercedes 6x6 had it sitting for about a year until I came across this website. I bought the whole wiring set up with pedals , within an hour my kids were already riding! I’m now thinking of upgrading the motors!
First off, it really is a great robust system. We have around 20ish hours on it. We usually do 1-2 hour outings. I can say it holds up.
My two cents on this, if anyone cares are that I think the wiring could be more adaptable, meaning easy to extend or to disconnect components.
If you are anal about wiring showing and things looking original, then you should be prepared to do some splicing. There isn't a way to unplug things easily like the brake pedal, gas pedal, or on off switch in order to run the wires through openings. So I think you need to at least be comfortable with splicing things to make this installation look good.
All that said, I would buy this again. We are running 550 motors rated at 30,000 rpms and the car moves to say the least.

Let's just start with the ease of install this thing went smoother than I believe it would everything came with quick connectors that made it very easy to change out anything I wanted to took me about 30 minutes to get the car up and running from a previous build I did that made an RC My daughter absolutely loves it has more than enough power running off of an M18 Milwaukee battery your Low voltage protection works great . Would highly recommend and will be buying gear upgrades later thank you very much second time I purchase from guys and everything's been awesome
I installed this a little electric go-kart that was working and I am simply amazed at how perfectly this kit works! This go-kart has been running strong with a lithium battery and it’s so easy to operate for my lil toddler. It has slo start feature so he doesn’t have all that juice so abruptly and I can’t say enough how great of a solution this kit was.

Easy to mount plug and play wiring
Easy to install. Kid loves the 18V runtime along with two-pedal operation.
I would be a fan of losing or extending the "runaway car" feature and have it coast for significantly longer with no gas or brake applied.
Great fun though! Motivated to try a 24V setup next summer.
I have replaced the gears in my sons F-150 power wheel three times now and finally decided to purchase the variable speed controller this time. The difference is astounding. My son has driven gas powered side by sides and go karts and with the two pedal system this comes with, it was very similar to the feel of those. I can already tell he will make this hopefully last set of gears last much longer.
Great, works perfectly
I am installing this after having upgraded the motors to stage III motor upgrade for the peg Perego RZR 900 and the 24volt battery upgrade. The wiring provided barely reached the battery so it could use maybe 6-12” added. The unit was blowing the 40 amp fuse, but I replaced it and now it just shut down. I haven’t had the chance to fully trouble shoot it. Also added the battery gauge as well. Otherwise it’s great for a more gradual start/stop.
👍
So far so good.
Easy and clean installation
I installed this on a little BMW i8 ride-on from Sams Club. The original electronics and 380 motors didn't last long. I converted to Ryobi 18v, larger 550 motors and gearboxes, and this controller kit. Took some extra work to extend some wires to get the parts routed and fitted where I wanted, but so far it is holding up well. I hope it lasts a long time. I like the variable speed, auto-brake, and brake pedal controls. Will take some time for the kiddos to get used to it. At first, they were apprehensive to drive it due to the additional power and speed.
Everything perfect
Does exactly what was promised. Throttle is no longer "all or nothing." Much smoother take offs. Kids are loving it.
The speed control kit is the only way to improve performance on any ride on car…the progressive throttle is a great feature..plus the kit is a simple install…
Works as described. It’s not a simple install. Lots to think about. It doesn’t come with an on/off switch so you will need to unplug the batteries while not in use or install a switch inline with the battery lead. Use a relay to accomplish this best.
The 24v ESC is serious for a power wheels upgrade. It's way too much for my kids peg perego ground force. With that said, it's a quality unit and went together easy. I really wish there was a power output limiting function. I opted to run the motor in series which brought the vehicle down to a manageable speed, and will save the motors from burning out, I also put a screw through pedal to limit its down travel. I will be keeping an eye out for a used and broken power wheels to throw this system in that can handle the speed better with a motor upgrade. Fantastic unit if your experienced kid whos ride on has become boring for them.
Warning: Make sure your child knows how this system works before operating! The Ramp down time is considerable compared to on/off. We had to have a driving school and issue learner permits and licenses.
All of MLToys' parts & batteries worked great.
MLToys Ride-On Speed/Brake Control v2.0
The idea here is great after ECPU shut down... The issue here is it constantly runs and you have to disconnect the battery when not in use; this could potentially be several times in a day with my kid. This takes hop on and go out of the equation. Because you have to turn it off due to the fans when not used, they should have built in an on/off switch and an option for a power port for charging. ECPU had a really nice unit and MLToys should have improved upon that item. Once I figure out the on/off switch part and can actually run this thing, I will update on how well it holds up.
MLToys Ride-On Speed/Brake Control v2.0
This scratches the itch for an upgrade, but the accretion pedal wasn't quite as smooth as I wanted, and the brake pedal the brake pedal didn't seem seem to make an appreciable effect with the 10 Ohm resistor. Ended up getting an ESC for a scooter, a hall effect accelerator, and wiring up a brake pedal with a 1 Ohm resistor. I don't regret this purchase, it started me down a fun/tinkery path.
I'd recommend the following changes: keep the ESC in one polarity and accomplish the reversing function thru external switching (either the original or along the motor leads), increase the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal (I had great results with an Amazon cheap-o), increase the braking sensitivity or make it variable (there wasn't a noticeable difference between brake engagement and allowing the motor to spool down).

I hoped this piece of electronics was going to be holy grail. has 24v-12v lighting adaptor & variable throttle for high voltage upgrades. But i had dangerous episode where it ignored throttle and brake and drove at full speed. mltoys was good about sending a new one to replace the faulty one.
With the replacement unit, appears the kid blew some fuse (I suspect the one attached to the ESC) within first few minutes of riding. I did not have a chance to take it apart again to change it and determine why. I had a 40amp fuse in the front easy to check that did not blow. all wires are 12 gauge and soldered. So I will be looking for reasons why fuse is blowing
Even on the very slowest accelerator level it is still quite fast with stage V motors and 24 volt. I perhaps need to gear down to stage IV gearing to make it start out a little slower.
It would be great if the accelerator pedal had a limiter to prevent how far the kid can push it down until they are ready for full speed
