Description

This is the Stage IV Torque Motor/Gearbox kit for Jeep Hurricane, Stinger, Dune Racer, and Baja Extreme. The Stage IV Torque kit is specifically designed for vehicles running at 18 or 24 volts and is re-geared for maximum low-end power as oppose to the Stage IV Speed kit which is designed for top speed.. It is ideally suited for smash-up derby's, mud bogs, overweight vehicles, and tough tough terrain. The Massive 775 motors provide insane amounts of torque for off-road and handle 24 volt loads without a care. The weakest link in the gearbox, the First Gear, has been replaced with a hardened steel first gear which also has 2 ball bearings for maximum efficiency. The thicker-then-molasses stock grease has been replaced with our Teflon Race Grease designed to coat the gears and shafts to make them more slippery and create less heat buildup. The gearbox housings and remaining gears are the newest, most durable design that Mattel has designed. Installation is simply removing your old gearboxes and putting your Stage IV in its place. Kit includes:

- 2 massive 775 size Modified Motors with Internal Cooling Fans pre-installed in gearboxes.
- Torque sleeves on both motors.
- Quick Change Bullet Connectors for easy install and removal of gearboxes.
- 2 Hardened Steel Pinion Gears with Lifetime Warranty*.
- 2 Hardened Steel First Gears with Lifetime Warranty*.
- 4 Steel Ball Bearings.
- Modified Final Gear Ratio to keep the wheels moving under the toughest conditions.
- MLToys Teflon Race Grease for even more speed, motor durability, and more run time.
- Gearboxes and nylon gears are the newest 7R high strength design*.
- One cap nut for re-assembly (if required on your vehicle model).

Motors are safe for up to 24 volts. We strongly recommend using Steel First Gears when running 18 volts or more.

* For warranty details on gears and gearbox housings please see our Warranty page. Just like when modifying a real car, modifying a Power Wheels voids all warranties. MLToys bears no responsibility for damage to vehicle, persons, or property incurred by modifying a vehicle. Be Smart, Be Safe, and Have Fun!

I purchased these motors and gearboxes for a Dune Racer I imported to Australia. Quick delivery and extraordinary products! Running at 24-volts with a custom speed control unit, the Dune Racer ploughs through 1 foot deep grass in our paddocks with 6-year female drivers...

Worked great with 24v and rubber tires April 16, 2017

Upgraded Jeep Hurricane with this set and modified to 24v battery power with rubber tires; 6 months later still working as good as new.

Note on rubber tires: for the jeep hurricane I was able to convert the factory wheels to rubber via 4 16x6.50x8 tires and tubes.  Just had to cut out the holes for the valve stems and long screws with washers (critual or the wheels will separate).  Made the horribly bumpy ride extremely smooth!

Note: 24v caused the factory wires to get very warm.  I ended up purchasing a 1000w conversion kit from west coast power up and it made these work even better!

Second note: with the extra power and speed, bumpy terrain caused the final drive gear to break off teeth 2 separate times.  Found it was due to the wheels having some play in then on the axel.  I used 2 3/4 inch inner hole diameter washers on each side (reduced play significantly) and haven't had any issues since then.

Installed the Stage IV boxes and they kick butt. Actually are running Lawnmower tires and the gearboxes hold up great on 24V. Clocked the Dune Racer at 11.5 MPH!
